Spiritual Application of the Ten Commandments

I was contemplating how the Ten Commandments are really all about our Relationship with God. Here's what He gave me (this is a revised version of one I did over a year ago, which is not on this blog, but some of you have seen in the past).

Exodus 20

1And God spake all these words, saying,

2I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

I, and no one else, brought you out of slavery to sin. If you ask Me and no one else what to do, if you do what I say, you will have Shalom.

4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

If you don’t replace Me in your heart with things made by human hands, I will come to you and make my Home with you.

5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

If you will humble yourself only before Me and serve only Me, I will Bless you and not curse you, and your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also be Blessed!

7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

You are Mine now. Don’t take this lightly. If you take Me and our Togetherness seriously, if you are going to use My name properly, then you will not be guilty of tarnishing my Name.

8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I will come in Shalom and Love to you on the seventh day of each week, the Day of the Lord, the Sabbath Day. I will want us to spend ALL our Time together on that day, and you will be able to Rest in my Shalom. Let’s Distract each other so much that we don’t want to do anything else but Love each other!

12Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

I am your Father. If you do what I tell you to, you will Live Forever, you will be Mine, and we will make our home Together.

13Thou shalt not [murder].

Love everyone, no matter who they are or what they’ve done, recently or in the past. If someone hurts you, tell them what they did, but love them and let Me deal with them, and WAIT to see what justice I will heap upon them, either in coals of love or through their living a Godless life. There is no fear in love, because Love involves punishment, so do not punish those who've hurt you. Love them.

14Thou shalt not commit adultery.

I am yours and you are Mine! Be Mine completely! Give yourself to no one but Me, and when you are married, Worship Me, not your spouse. Stay pure by Abiding in Me and in no one else, even for a time.

15Thou shalt not steal.

Give Me what I ask of you, and Trust me to Provide all your needs – walk in Faith, Knowing that I WILL Provide!

16Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Love everyone and tell the truth about people. Do not change your testimony about others to suit your purposes or anyone else’s. Be impartial.

17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Again, I will provide for ALL your needs, when you really need them

and Trust Me to Provide them!

To summarize:

Exodus 20
